why do I do it

When I was younger one day I was sweeping the sidewalk when this girl across the street started calling me really mean things, then her father came out and started throwing rocks at me until his wife came out and told him to quit it. I guess that was the day when I wanted to make a difference and change the way White Americans treat African Americans. So I started playing a bunch of different sports that weren't really segragated. Soon after that I became pretty well known and a well respected athlete. During that time I changed some people's opinions of African Americans. Finally a while after college I got offered by the Dodgers to be the first African American to play major league baseball, to be the person who unsegarated baseball for African Americans.I said yes to the offer, the reason I do what I do is because I wanted to make a difference in segarated America to change things for African Americans and I accomplished that. That is why I do what I do.

What's the Big Deal

I Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier of major league baseball by being the first African American to play major league baseball, I was also the first African American to play in the world series.I changed tons of opinions of White Americans about African Americans. Breaking the color barrier of major league baseball was a big step in segragated america, it helped some people take a step and change their opinions of African Americans. All these things are why you remember what I have done.

My Childhood

My name is Jackie Robinson I was born in Cairo,Georgia January 31,1919.My mother was Mallie Robinson and my father was Jerry Robinson.I had four siblings Mack Robinson,Edgar Robinson,Willa Mae Robinson, and Frank Robinson. An important event in my life was when I was younger and I was sweeping the side walk and this girl across the street started yelling mean things at me because the color of my skin, then her father started throwing rocks at me, I guess that event is what made me speak out and do the things I did,I think thats what made me want to do baseball and other things to prove that I'm just the same as anyone else and should be treated equal to white americans.
